Hi Friends!
I have a super easy and super quick ornament craft to share with you today. I mean, this one takes a few short minutes, from start to finish, which is probably why my kids enjoyed it! Ever since they were babies, my kids have always received personalized ornaments each Christmas, and about two years ago, they started making their own by decorating clear, plastic balls and adding some favorite items inside.
In the past, they’ve used small toys, charms, mini erasers and Legos. So this year, my little guy decided to use Legos in Christmas colors, and my little Diva chose loom bands — no surprise there!
The only supplies you need to make these kid-friendly ornaments are:
- Clear plastic ball ornaments
- Loom bands, Legos or whatever your child chooses
- Ribbon
- Paint pen or Sharpie marker
Some of these ornaments snap in half, but these particular ones didn’t. I just made sure to remove the top so that my kids didn’t have to deal with that part. My little guy added a few small Legos to his, but he wasn’t willing to part with more than a few.
My daughter wanted to fill her ornament with as many loom bands as possible, and since she has a ton, these won’t be missed! My son was surprised that she didn’t choose red and green bands, but she really wanted pastels in several different colors.
My older ones haven’t done theirs yet, and who knows what items they’ll choose. I’m also thinking that this would be a nice way to give small, inexpensive items, such as Legos and loom bands, as gifts.
What kind of personal ornaments do you make with the kids in your life?
Thanks for visiting — happy crafting!
