I don’t even remember where I found this easy Snicker salad recipe, but I think it was at a church event, party or potluck somewhere. In fact, I used to make this candy bar apple salad recipe for our own church potlucks, and it was always a big hit with everyone — probably because many folks were from the Midwest!

This sweet side dish is not your average salad. It’s closer to an easy dessert recipe. It’s a little tart, a little sweet, a little salty, and completely delicious. The best part about this delicious recipe is everyone loves it, and it always goes fast!

Granny Smith apples, Cool Whip and bag of Snickers candy bars

Ingredients

You only need 3 simple ingredients for this Snicker apple salad recipe. Complete amounts are in the recipe card below. You can find these in almost any grocery store.

  • Apples — Tart Granny Smith apples work best
  • Snickers candy bars — either regular size Snickers candy bars or fun size, chopped
  • Cool Whip — or any brand of whipped topping, thawed

NOTE – You don’t need to add lemon juice to the fresh apples since the Cool Whip helps prevent them from browning.

How to Make Snickers Apple Salad

All you do is core and dice the apples and candy bars into bite sized pieces.

Then, add them to a large mixing bowl. You don’t even have to peel the apples first unless you want to.

The green skin adds a nice pop of color to this sweet salad.

Then, fold in the entire tub of Cool Whip. Stir until all ingredients are well blended.

And, that’s all you do!

How to Store

Store this sweet side dish in an airtight container or covered with plastic wrap in the refrigerator. You can transfer the salad to a serving bowl before serving.

It keeps for about 2 days before it starts to break down and become watery.

Recipe Variations

This apple snicker salad is made without pudding. To make it with pudding, mix a small box of vanilla instant pudding mix with a half cup milk. Then, make as directed.

Make Snicker salad with cream cheese and powdered sugar or brown sugar for more of a cheesecake flavor. You can use whipped cream in place of whipped topping for this.

Change candy bars. Twix or Milky Way Bars are good choices. Sometimes, I add Snickers Peanut Butter candies with the regular Snickers, and this combination worked really well with the tartness of the green apples.

The kids love snacking on apples and peanut butter, so they love the combination in this salad. And, this is why we sometimes call it Double Snicker Apple Salad.

Sometimes, I add a little cinnamon for extra flavor, but this is optional. To make a Snickers caramel apple salad for apple season, add a drizzle of caramel sauce over the salad before serving.

Recipe FAQ

Can you make Snicker Salad the night before?

Yes, you can. But keep in mind, the salad tends to get watery the longer it sits.

What are the best apples for this dessert salad?

Granny Smith apples. The tartness of the apples balances out the sweetness of the candy bars in this dessert salad. They also stay crisp. You can also use Gala apples, Pink Lady or Honey crisp apples. Red apples don’t hold up as well in this salad.
