Good Morning!
Spring break is officially over, and it’s time to get back into the daily routine. I have to admit that I really enjoyed the break, and it was so nice to get some extra sleep! The kids and I had a lot of fun, and we also completed a few projects, including this ballet barre for my daughter’s American Girl dolls.
My little dancer doesn’t have Isabelle, the newest AG doll, but it’s definitely on her birthday wish list. She does dress her other dolls in ballet costumes, but they were having difficulty perfecting their ballet positions without a barre. So, Hubby and I decided to make our own barre for the dolls to enjoy.
We bought two dowels, some plain wood pieces and eye screws. Hubby cut the wood into smaller pieces and drilled a hole into two of the pieces. We glued the two small dowels into these rectangular pieces and added the eye screws to the tops of the dowels.
This way, the barre is adjustable, and the length can easily be changed to accommodate more than one dancer. We also glued two more rectangular wood pieces to the bases for additional support.
Once the two stands were complete, my little dancer and I painted them pink and black — her favorite color combination! We were lucky to have wonderful weather, so we did the painting outside.
I wanted to paint the long dowel, but my daughter wanted it to look like the barre in her dance studio, so I gave in and left this piece unpainted. After all, I’m not the one who will be using it! The long dowel fits easily between the eye screws, and the entire ballet barre is very lightweight and also portable!
Now, the American Girl dolls can perfect their moves on their own ballet barre. My little dancer set this up by my closet so that it would look like an actual dance studio. Isn’t it cute?!
Thanks so much for visiting. I hope you enjoyed touring our mini dance studio! Have a great day!
Dee 🙂
