Hi Everyone!
I love saving money, especially when it comes to decorating, and I always try to stop at the Dollar Store before I shop anywhere else. The fun part is giving these inexpensive items a complete makeover so that they look like more expensive pieces.
I have a super easy Dollar Store makeover to show you today. And, I do mean super easy! Although I’m sure I’m not the first person to try this, I love how it turned out, so I had to show it to you.
I bought a few plastic leaf dishes a year or so ago, and I used them as candy dishes. But let’s face it — They look cheap. And, it was far too easy for the kids to grab candy, which meant that not only did I have empty plastic dishes just sitting there, but I also had really hyper kids — not fun!
I had two dishes that were shaped like maple leaves.
And, I also had a larger orange leaf dish. I decided to give all of them a quick makeover with the help of gold and silver spray paint.
All I did was spray paint two of the leaf dishes gold. I love the look of gold, and it’s very trendy now, but I like silver too, and I painted one of them silver.
The gold looks slightly brassy, but I really like how they turned out. Now, they all look like metal, and you wouldn’t know they are really plastic.
They’re just the right size for holding potpourri, vase filler or other little treasures.
Have you done any Dollar Store decorating lately?
Thanks for visiting. Have a wonderful day!
Dee 🙂

Thanks for stopping by, Linda. It's funny because the kids will only help themselves if the candy is out in the open. 🙂
Thanks, Steph. I'm a firm believer in the power of paint! 🙂
