Snowman Jars

Hi Friends!

You probably know by now how much I love repurposing old jars into decorative containers, so you may not be that surprised to see what the kids and I have done now. We made some cute pumpkin jars before Halloween, and I used them to hold pens, office supplies and wooden spoons. I loved those little jars so much that I still had them up a few days ago — and it’s almost Christmas! So, this time around, we made snowman jars, and I’m planning on using these guys long after the holidays are over.

I started out with three jars. One was a pasta sauce jar in a former life, and the other two started out as salsa jars. They all got two coats of white Rust-Oleum spray paint, just because I happen to prefer this brand, and when they were dry, my little helpers and I went to work.

This part is easy enough for the kids to do, and they never pass up a chance to draw with Sharpies! They made the eyes and mouth with a black Sharpie and the carrot nose with an orange marker.

We took some red ribbon and added it to the tops of the jars and around the bottom to make scarves. 

The pasta sauce jar is narrower than the others around the neck, so we decided to turn this snowman into a decoration. He really doesn’t serve a purpose, but he’s cute! I used an old kid sock to make a hat, and we glued two cotton balls on the toe area for decoration.

And, voila — snowman jars!   

This is an easy and thrifty way to add some holiday cheer to your home, and for me, it didn’t cost anything because I already had everything I needed. Plus, it was a lot of fun for the kiddos too.
