Halloween food should be easy to make and fun to eat — like this Monster Munch. It’s a sweet and salty mix of popcorn, pretzels and Halloween candy held together with white chocolate and topped with ribbons of colorful candy melts. If you’re looking for Halloween party food or easy Halloween snacks, you’ll go batty for Monster Munch!

We always serve Mummy Dogs and fun Halloween treats like Nutter Butter Ghost Cookies, Halloween Pretzels, Oreo Pumpkins, Halloween Bark and Halloween Marshmallow Pops before the kids go trick-or-treating.

While it would be easy to throw some chips in a bowl, serving a fun snack mix is even better.

Ingredients

You only need a few simple ingredients for this Halloween popcorn mix. They can be found them in your grocery store, candy store or craft store or online.

  •  Popcorn – Make your own microwave popcorn, air popper popcorn or buy a bag of popcorn from the store, like Boom Chick a Pop
  •  Pretzels — mini pretzel twists
  • White chocolate
  • M & M candy
  • Orange candy melts
  • Purple candy melts
  • Green candy melts and/or black candy melts
  • Candy eyeballs
  • Cup candy corn
  • Sprinkles — fun Halloween sprinkles in assorted colors

You’ll also need a large cookie sheet, wax paper or parchment paper and small bowls for melting the candy coating and white chocolate chips. Use a small bowl for each color.

Sweet and salty Monster Munch starts out with popcorn and pretzels — That’s your salty base. Time saving tip — Take the easy way out and use premade popcorn! I use Boom Chicka Pop, but any brand will do.

How to Make Halloween Popcorn Mix

First, melt the candy melts and white chocolate in the microwave or on the stove over medium heat. Follow the package directions for best results.

Next, spread the popcorn on a baking tray lined with wax paper. Make sure to remove un-popped kernels. Then, add the pretzels.

Drizzle some melted white chocolate all over — That’s your sweet!

Stir it up so that the melted chocolate holds everything together. Then, sprinkle your favorite Halloween candy all over the mix.

For extra color, drizzle melted candy coating all over the popcorn mixture.

We used a blend of orange and purple candy melts — you want the colors to really pop!

Finally, add some fun Halloween sprinkles and googly eyes for extra sparkle.

Let the Monster Munch firm up for about 30 minutes. You can pop the tray into the fridge or leave it on the counter until everything is dry and firm enough to handle.

Then, carefully break up the popcorn mixture with your hands. Place it into a large bowl, and you’re ready to dig in!

It’s salty, sweet and very delicious. Once you start munching on this sweet treat, it’s hard to stop!

Variations

It’s super easy to customize this monster Halloween popcorn. Use your favorite Halloween candies — Reese’s pieces, gummy worms and candy pumpkins are delicious additions.

You can add crushed Oreo cookies and miniature marshmallows to this easy Halloween treat for even more flavor.

Instead of plain popcorn, use caramel popcorn, kettle corn or your favorite popcorn flavor.

Change up the basic party popcorn recipe for every holiday. We make Christmas popcorn, Bunny Bait Easter Popcorn and Patriotic Popcorn for Independence Day!
