Easy Valentine Candy Bark
If you’re looking for a simple Valentine’s Day dessert or sweet treat, you’ll love this easy recipe for Valentine bark. You can make this no-bake dessert in minutes — just melt, pour and swirl!
We make chocolate bark for just about every holiday — Christmas, Easter, Halloween and 4th of July. It’s super easy, and the kids can help. So, now we have a Valentines version! Makes a great gift — just add a few pieces to treat bags to share with friends.
Ingredient Notes
Here’s what you need for this easy chocolate bark. Full amounts are in the printable recipe card below.
- Semi sweet chocolate chips — Since candy coating is sweet, I like to have a chocolate base to offset the sweetness. You can also add a layer of pretzels or Oreos if you don’t want to use chocolate.
- Candy coating — You can find candy melts in craft stores or online. I used pink and bright white here. Almond bark is a good alternative, and you can use food coloring to add different colors. You can use white chocolate, although some people have trouble getting it to melt without seizing.
- Valentine candy — We used M&M’s, but you can use your favorite candy here.
- Colorful sprinkles — optional, but adds cuteness!
How to Make Valentine’s Day Bark
First, you need to melt the chocolate chips and candy coating. We do this in the microwave, but the double-boiler method on the stove works, too. Spread the chocolate layer on a large baking sheet or cookie sheet. Then, add the candy coating, and swirl. Finally, add the candies and sprinkles.
You can let it set in the fridge or on the counter, but the fridge will speed things up. When it’s set, you can break it up to serve.
Storage
Store the bark in an airtight container. I keep it in the refrigerator because it’s warmer here, but you can keep it on the counter if your house is cool enough. It should last 1-2 weeks — if it isn’t gone by then! You can freeze the bark for up to 3 months — just be sure to let it thaw completely before eating!
Recipe Tips
Always microwave chocolate and candy coating in increments in a microwave-safe bowl. Follow the directions on the bag of the brand you use.
I find it easier to break the bark into large rectangles, then use a sharp knife to cut into smaller pieces.
