More Rain in the Desert

Hello Everyone!

Not long ago, I shared some pictures that I took after one of our desert monsoons. Well, Phoenix just had the wettest day ever, and we broke a record with an even bigger storm, which caused flooding, road closures and even school closures. And honestly, schools are almost never closed here! Talk about happy kids! So, I thought I’d show you another random post with a few of the pictures I took.

I made this beach sign for our pool area, and since we had our own backyard lake, this sign was very appropriate! The little bird statue on the right is almost covered with water.

Even after it stopped raining, the water took a long time to drain. Our pool was almost overflowing, so Hubby had to let some water out, and our backyard lake was still there in the evening.

Have you ever seen a river without water? This is normally a dry riverbed, but this is how it looks right now. The kids always ask why there are river signs when there is no water, so we like to drive by and show them that these dry beds really are rivers!

This little lake is actually a water retention area in a housing development, and it’s normally filled with grass and used as a play area. When we drove by, people were sailing model boats in the water. I love how the saguaro looks against the evening sky.

After the last rain, the kids found a little toad in the yard and named him Hopkins. They were hoping that Hopkins would make another appearance, but the little toad hasn’t been back. Maybe next time.
