Make cute red, white and blue flower clips for the Fourth of July
Hi There!
My girls love to wear flower clips in their hair, and being young fashionistas, they like to have clips that go with each of their outfits. Of course, this can easily become an expensive habit, so I started making our own clips a couple of years ago. Being the cheap frugal mama that I am, I even figured out a way to reuse the clips and attach new flowers, which keeps the cost even lower!
The girls already had some red, white and blue flowers, but they were looking kind of ratty, so after a quick trip to the craft store, we made these cute patriotic flower clips for the Fourth of July.
I found these spring heart flowers and the blue flower, which were all on sale. The hearts are probably left over from Valentines’ Day, but I thought the pattern would look nice against the solid colors of the other flowers.
To make the clips, I also used:
- silver hair clips
- large clear stones
- small brads
- hot glue
I started by pulling the flowers apart and combining the pieces to make a completely new pattern. I used hot glue to attach the brad to the clear stone. Then, my assistants helped me poke the tip of the brad through the holes in the flowers.
When the brad goes through the flower, poke it through the opening in one side of the clip, and fold the prongs over to keep the ends in place.
We made two different combinations to start. I also ended up using part of a red flower to give one of the clips a little bit more color. Isn’t this easy?! Now, the girls are ready to go out and celebrate Independence Day!
And, if you like to wear flowers, you can even make these patriotic hair flowers for yourself!
Thanks for visiting us — have an awesome day!
Dee 🙂
