Pool Noodle Flip Flop Wreath

It’s almost summer, and I don’t know about you, but I am so ready to celebrate! Between the birthdays, graduations and end of the school year, it’s been crazy busy, and I’m looking forward to relative calm for a couple of months. To get into the groove, I made an easy pool noodle flip flop wreath, and I love how it turned out!

Not only was this easy to create, but it was also a very thrifty craft. I purchased the flip flops and pool noodle from the Dollar Store, and I already had the other supplies on hand. The total cost for me was a whopping $3! To make this wreath, you’ll need the following items:

Pool noodle
Kid-sized flip flops
Duct tape
Ribbon
Foam Flowers
Hot glue
Crystal stickers

Start by trimming the ends of the pool noodle so that it forms an even circle and is the size you need. Then, secure the ends with some duct tape.

To cover the duct tape, I chose two different ribbons from my stash. I used a plain green ribbon to wrap around the duct tape, and I used a different ribbon as the hanger. Then, I began arranging the flip flops on the wreath until I was happy with the pattern.

Because the wreath is all about summer fun, I wanted to show the pool noodle, and I didn’t want to cover it up with any material. Normally, you would use hot glue to attach the flip flops to the noodle, but in this case, I didn’t want the noodle to melt. So, I pressed loops of duct tape to the pool noodle where I wanted the flip flops to go, and then I used hot glue to secure the flip flops to the duct tape–make sense?

To bridge the gaps, I glued foam hibiscus flowers on the edge of the flip flops. It still looked a little plain, so I added some green crystal stickers in the center of each hibiscus flower.

And voila–it’s a cute summer wreath! I hung the wreath on the wall to get a picture, and it goes so well with the beachy theme in the family room that I wish I could leave it there. But, that’s probably a little too casual!
