Easy Chocolate Belgian Waffles are perfect for your weekend breakfast. Top them with strawberries, chocolate chips and whipped cream for an extra special treat!
During the week, breakfast is definitely quick and easy since we’re always rushing to get the kids off to school on time. So, I usually fix them some oatmeal, cold cereal and fruit or smoothies. But on the weekends, it’s a completely different story!
Most of the time we’ll have eggs with bacon or sausage, but sometimes, we’ll splurge and make homemade waffles. And on special occasions like Valentine’s Day — if it falls on the weekend — or Mother’s Day, we’ll celebrate with these easy Chocolate Belgian wafffles. There goes the low carb diet, but hey, it’s fine to splurge every so often, right?
I first shared a slightly different version over at Somewhat Simple a few months ago, but with Valentine’s Day coming up, I just had to share this chocolate and strawberry treat here!
This is just your basic Belgian waffle recipe, only better. And actually, you can use this batter for regular waffles, as well.
I added some dark cocoa powder to the batter and some dark brown sugar to give the waffles a slightly sweet chocolate flavor. And to make these chocolate waffles even better, I topped them off with sweet macerated strawberries and some chocolate chips — yum!
And if you really want to go all out, you can even drizzle some chocolate syrup over the entire stack. I mean, can you ever have too much chocolate? I think not!
Come to think about it, that would even make an awesome dessert!

Like I said, we don’t have these easy chocolate Belgian waffles that often. But sometimes, I make a little extra so the kids can enjoy them during the week. Just pop them in the toaster, and breakfast is served!
Enjoy your day, friends!
Sorry to say my children didn’t like these. They ended up quite dry which may be due to my cooking but they were not chocolatey at all. I did use normal cocoa powder so that might be why
Dark cocoa adds more flavor so that you don’t have to use as much. My kids like them, but everybody is different. So sorry it wasn’t a hit with your family. 🙂
I love Belgian Waffles this looks fabulous! Hope you are enjoying your day and thanks so much for sharing your awesome post with us at Full Plate Thursday!
