Jalapeño Bacon Cheeseburgers are made with ground beef, glazed with BBQ sauce and topped with cheddar cheese, crispy bacon and jalapeño peppers. They’re perfect for your next summer cookout!
May is National Burger Month and this hearty jalapeño bacon cheddar burger is an absolutely delicious way to celebrate! If you’re looking for an easy cheeseburger recipe, you’ve come to the right place.
Of course, I could go for thick and juicy burger anytime, no matter what month it is! We make hamburgers in the Instant Pot or baked cheeseburger sliders when the weather isn’t cooperating, but when it is, it’s time to fire up the grill!
When it comes to making cheeseburgers or hamburgers, I like mine to be as loaded as possible. And if I can add a little heat, it’s even better!
Sometimes, we’ll make bacon cheddar guacamole burgers without the jalapenos. They’re not as spicy but definitely good and kid approved.
We also make these jalapeño jack burgers with a delicious cilantro lime sauce. They’re spicy, but the sauce helps to cool things off. And these jalapeño bacon cheddar burgers are the best of both worlds.
How to Make Spicy Bacon Cheeseburgers
The actual hamburger recipe is super simple and only contains 4 ingredients:
- Fresh ground beef
- Salt
- Pepper
- Water
I really think that if the base is good, then you can make the burgers even better by adding your favorite toppings. And that’s exactly what we did here.
To keep things easy, I used leftover air fryer bacon from breakfast. If you plan ahead, make extra bacon!
We grilled the burgers for about 5 minutes per side. Then, we brushed on a thin layer of barbecue sauce for extra flavor.
If you want more BBQ sauce, you can add more later. My BBQ-loving middle child likes to drown her burgers in sauce, but the rest of us like just a tad less!
Next, you add some thickly sliced cheddar cheese, let it melt a little, and then you top the burger off with crispy slices of bacon and sliced jalapeño peppers. I fry the jalapeños in butter a little bit just to bring out the flavor. It’s optional but so worth it!
Cheddar Alternatives
Real cheddar cheese works so well with these hamburgers. But if you’re not a fan, you can use American, Colby Jack, Monterey Jack or spicy Pepper Jack.
