Make Air Fryer Breakfast Sausage with this easy recipe for cooking breakfast sausage links and patties in the air fryer. Works for fresh and frozen sausage.

If you like having sausages for breakfast, but you hate cleaning up a messy, greasy stove, you need to start cooking breakfast sausages in your air fryer.

This easy air fryer recipe works for sausage links and sausage patties. And, you can cook with both fresh and frozen sausage.

I used my Instant Pot Vortex Plus air fryer this time. But, you can use this same recipe with a basket style air fryer or a larger toaster oven style air fryer like the Instant Pot Omni Plus.

How to Cook Breakfast Sausage Links in the Air Fryer

Place the sausage links on the air fryer tray. Then, preheat the air fryer to 390 degrees.

If your air fryer does not have a non-stick tray, you can use a non stick cooking spray for easier clean-up. Don’t use this on the Vortex or any other air fryer with non stick coating.

Add the sausages to the air fryer when it reaches 390. Then, set the time for 10 minutes.

Turn the links about halfway through the cooking time. And, you’re done!

How Long to Cook Frozen Breakfast Sausages

If the sausage links are frozen — no problem! Just break them apart if you can, and cook for 12 minutes.

Breakfast sausages are done when the internal temperature is 160 degrees. If you don’t have a thermometer, they should be cooked until no longer pink inside.

Note — If you like your sausage extra crispy or dark, just add an extra couple of minutes to the cook time. It’s super easy to get the sausages exactly the way you want them!

How to Air Fry Sausage Patties

If you’re using sausage patties instead of links, cook them at 390 for 10 minutes. For frozen sausage patties, cook for 12 minutes.

The temperature should be 160 degrees, with little or no pink inside. Again, if you like crispier sausage patties, just cook them a little longer!

The patties I used were about 1/4-inch thick. If yours are thinner or thicker, you may have to adjust the time.
