Make Air Fryer Fried Oreos with crescent roll dough and powdered sugar for a super easy dessert that’s better than fried Oreo cookies you get at the fair! No hot oil and less mess with this easy and delicious sweet treat!

These air fried Oreo cookies are definitely the most unusual air fryer recipe I’ve made yet. But, they are super easy, and they taste amazingly delicious! Plus, it’s a quick way to satisfy your sweet tooth!

If you’ve ever had deep fried Oreos at the fair or at a restaurant, you know they are dipped in batter and fried in hot oil until golden brown. They’re tasty — like most fair food — but definitely high in calories and fat.

We make air fryer deep fried Oreos without pancake mix. The cookies are wrapped in crescent roll dough and air fried until crispy and golden brown. These delicious treats have less calories and are lower in fat than the ones you get at state fairs, but they taste just as delicious. Promise!

Ingredients

You only need 3 ingredients for this easy air fryer dessert recipe:

  • Oreo cookies or any sandwich cookie
  • A tube of crescent roll dough or crescent roll sheet
  • Powdered sugar

How to Make Air Fryer Deep Fried Oreos with Crescent Roll Dough

First, open the package of crescent rolls, and separate the triangles on a flat surface. If you can find the crescent roll sheets, it’ll make this easy recipe even easier! I found it easiest to roll up the triangles slightly and press them into circular shapes.

Next, place an Oreo cookie on top of the circles. I used my silicone baking mat as a surface just to make clean-up easier, but you don’t need to do this.

If you’re using the sheets, unroll the dough into one large rectangle. Then, use a sharp knife to cut it into 12 squares.

Then, fold the dough up and over the cookie so that they meet in the middle. Press the ends of the dough together so that they stick.

I made these fried Oreos in my Instant Omni Plus air fryer oven, so I could make 8 or more at a time. It comes with a metal basket, so I sprayed the basket with non stick spray.

If you are using the Vortex Plus or any air fryer with non stick coating, you’ll want to skip the non stick spray and use olive oil mist or something similar. Non stick spray can ruin appliances and cookware with non stick coating!

Place the cookies into the basket of the air fryer in a single layer, seams side down. If you are using a smaller air fryer, you’ll want to air fry the cookies in batches.

How Long to Air Fry

Every air fryer is different, but I found air frying the cookies at 380 degrees f for 6 minutes was perfect. You might want to add more time if you want them to be more golden brown.

I recommend experimenting to find what cook time works best for the brand you have and the size of your air fryer. Flip the cookies over about halfway through. And, dust with powdered sugar after the cookies are done. So good!

Actually, my kids think this indulgent treat tastes even better than the deep fried cookies! And, they’re perfect when you want a super easy delicious dessert.

Variations

We are big Oreos fans, so we made regular Oreos,(original oreos) and we also tried ones with chocolate filling, mint Oreos, Golden Oreos and lemon Oreos.

We actually like the flavor from the lemon cookies better. The tangy lemon filling offsets the sweetness! Don’t forget, any sandwich cookie will work here, and you can use any type of oreo. Double stuff Oreos are good, too!

If you can’t find crescent roll dough, you can experiment with biscuit dough or puff pastry. I haven’t tried these personally, but you should be able to achieve similar results.

If you want to take this decadent treat to the next level, add a drizzle of chocolate syrup. Or serve with chocolate sauce for dipping. They go very well with ice cream — just saying!

How to Store

Store leftover air fryer Oreos in an airtight container. Ours tend to disappear fast, but they should last a day or 2 before becoming too soft and soggy.

Instructions

  • Open the crescent rolls dough, and separate into 8 triangles. Or cut a roll of crescent roll sheets into 12 squares
  • Roll each triangle into a ball, and flatten into a circle
  • Place an Oreo on top of the dough, and stretch sides so that they meet in the middle
  • Press ends of dough together so that they stick
  • Spray air fryer basket with olive oil spray or cooking spray (depending on what type of fryer you have) and place cookies, seam side down in basket
  • Preheat to 380 degrees, and cook for 6 minutes, turning halfway through
  • Dust with powdered sugar after cooking, and enjoy!

Notes

Use crescent roll sheets if you can find them!
Do not use non stick spray on air fryer baskets with non stick interiors as that will ruin the finish.
Results may vary with different air fryer makes/models.
If you’re using an air fryer oven with metal basket, like the Omni Plus, the dough will probably stick a little. But, it’s easy to press the dried dough off after cooking. Wash as usual after removing dough.
