Baked Pork Chops with Brown Sugar and Paprika
If you’re looking for an easy pork chop recipe with simple ingredients, this one’s for you! Not only is this a very easy recipe, but it’s also super quick to make. This delicious dinner is perfect for a weeknight meal or whenever you need to feed your cranky, hungry family right away!
The key to making juicy pork chops in the oven is to cook them at a higher temperature for a shorter amount of time. I use a simple spice rub which makes a sweet, tangy brown sugar sauce during the cooking process. Even my picky eaters love this easy dinner! To keep things fast, I serve these tender pork chops with a side of couscous, rice and peas, green beans or broccoli.
Ingredient Notes
Here’s a quick list of the ingredients you need. Full amounts are in the printable recipe card below.
- Pork chops — Look for thick chops about a half inch to 1 inch thick. I used boneless pork chops this time, but you can use bone-in chops if you prefer those. They take a little longer to cook, but the basic preparation is the same.
- Dijon mustard — Adds a tangy flavor and combines with the dry ingredients to form a light sauce. You won’t really taste the mustard, since you’re not using that much.
- Brown sugar — adds sweetness and flavor. You can use dark or light brown sugar.
- Seasonings — sea salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and paprika. You can sub smoked paprika or even hot paprika for a different flavor.
- Olive oil — or cooking spray so the chops don’t stick to the pan
How to Make Brown Sugar Pork Chops
First, pat the chops dry with a paper towel. Place them on a prepared baking sheet — I use aluminum foil for easy clean-up. Add a little mustard, then season with the dry ingredients. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until they reach 145 degrees, according to a meat thermometer. Let them rest for about 5 minutes — this keeps them nice and juicy– and they are ready to eat!
Recipe Tips
Thinner cuts of pork may take 15-20 minutes to cook, while thicker cuts may take 20-25 minutes. Thick bone-in pork may take 25-20 minutes. Always use a meat thermometer for accuracy.
Storage
Store leftovers in an airtight container in your fridge for 3-4 days. You can freeze leftover pork chops for up to 3 months for best taste.
