This easy banana pudding dip recipe makes a sweet dessert dip that is basically classic banana pudding in dip form. Perfect for holidays, parties or as a sweet treat at home.
If you like the classic no bake version of banana pudding or pudding pie, you’re going to love this super easy recipe for banana pudding dip. The pudding is one of my most popular recipes and a family favorite, so I had to turn this easy dessert into a sweet dip. Because we all know, you can never have too many dessert dip recipes!
Unlike other recipes, mine does not contain cream cheese, making it light, fluffy and absolutely scrumptious! You can serve this no bake dessert anytime. It’s perfect for holiday gatherings, potlucks, movie nights or game nights — all year long!
Ingredient Notes
Here’s a quick list of the simple ingredients you need for this banana pudding pie dip. Full amounts are in the printable recipe card below.
- Instant vanilla pudding mix — I used Jello vanilla pudding. If you can find an instant banana cream pudding mix, you can definitely use that. Make sure you are using instant and not cook and serve.
- Milk — I use 2 percent milk, but whole milk is fine.
- Cool Whip — or any non-dairy whipped topping. Make sure it is thawed first. You can sub whipped cream, but the dip will not be as fluffy.
- Ripe banana — Should still be yellow and not brown, sliced into small pieces with a few for garnish on top
- Lemon — adding lemon juice over the bananas will prevent them from turning brown.
- Nilla wafers — broken up
How to Make Banana Pudding Dip
First, mix the milk and pudding mix. Then, add the whipped topping. Slice the banana and sprinkle with lemon juice. Add the bananas and crushed cookies, and refrigerate until ready to serve. Super, super easy!
Serving Suggestions
Spoon the dip into a serving bowl, and top with a little whipped cream, banana slices and crushed cookies. We love to use our favorite dippers — vanilla wafers, graham crackers, vanilla sandwich cookies and fresh fruit, especially strawberries and sliced apples!
Storage
Store the dip in an airtight container or covered with plastic wrap in the refrigerator for about 3 days. It does not last that long around here! The bananas and cookies will get soggy the longer it sits. This scrumptious dip does not freeze well.
Recipe Tip
Don’t use an overly ripe banana as it will be too mushy.
Make sure you are using instant pudding mix, and don’t follow directions on the box. Use directions in this recipe.
Gently fold the whipped topping using a spatula not a mixer for a fluffier dip.
