Hello, hello! When the kiddos and I were in Michael’s the other day, we found a huge display filled with Wilton Candy Melts, and they sort of fell right into the shopping cart. Well, not really. I think the kids may have had something to do with it, but I didn’t protest that much. We had previously used the melts to make Valentine’s Day treats, and since those turned out so well, we decided to make some Candy Coated Pretzels for Spring.
I’m not usually a fan of pastels, but I love the soft colors you see around Easter and spring. Sunshine and happiness, I guess! Anyway, we thought about making candy coated cookie dough, but this just seemed like it would be too sweet, so we decided on the pretzels, instead. I love the combination of salty and sweet, and these little morsels are downright addicting!
Here’s what we used to make these candy coated pretzels:
Supplies
- Yellow, pink and white Wilton Candy Melts
- Mini pretzels
- Pastel m & m‘s
Directions
Place the candy in separate microwavable bowls, and heat according to the directions on the package. We usually start at 30 seconds, then stir, and then repeat at 15-second increments until the candy is fully melted.
Then, we dipped the pretzels into the candy coating and put them on wax paper to dry. For fun, we drizzled different colors onto the pretzels and topped them off with some spring m & m’s.
The non-chocolate lovers requested that we leave off the chocolate candy on a few pretzels, so we did. But the chocolate, combined with the crunchy sweet and salty combo is very, very good. The non-chocolate lovers don’t know what they’re missing — seriously!
Since it’s spring, I got out my grandma’s vintage Desert Rose Franciscan Ware, which I think is perfect for holding the pastel pretzels. This little bowl is one of the few pieces from her collection that does not have any chips, so I’m happy to be able to use it.
And maybe, eating candy coated pretzels out of a treasured family heirloom makes them taste even better!
Thanks so very much for visiting!
