Make No-bake Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Balls without raw eggs and raw flour with this easy edible cookie dough recipe. This delicious sweet treat will satisfy your cookie dough cravings!

Out of all the cookies in the world, chocolate chip cookies are my favorite. And the only thing that may be slightly better than a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie is the cookie dough.

Waaaaaay back when, I used to love snacking on bits of dough before I popped the cookies into the oven. Now, we know raw dough isn’t safe. But eggless cookie dough made without raw eggs and without raw flour is perfectly safe!

We’ve been using this eggless dough recipe for years, and it’s awesome. I make no bake chocolate chip cookie dough bites without cream cheese. This easy recipe is very close to the real dough we normally use.

It’s also super easy to make, and my kids make it all the time. In fact, it’s just slightly hard to stop snacking once you start.

all purpose flour, chocolate chips, vanilla, cinnamon, butter, milk and brown sugar

Ingredients

You only need a few simple ingredients for chocolate chip cookie dough bites. If you don’t have these pantry staples, you can find them in the grocery store.

  • Brown sugar
  • Softened butter
  • All purpose flour
  • Milk — to soften the dough
  • Vanilla extract
  • Ground cinnamon — optional but adds flavor
  • Semi sweet chocolate chips — for dough and coating

First, you need to make heat treated flour. You can either bake the flour at 350 degrees f for 5 minutes. Or heat the flour in the microwave until it reaches 165 degrees, according to a food thermometer.

We usually spread the flour on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake it.

When the flour cools down, you can make the cookie dough. Just cream butter and sugar in a large bowl.

When the butter mixture is smooth and creamy, stir in the heat treated flour.

To avoid flour clumps, either sift the flour into the dough mix or break chunks up with a fork before adding.

stir flour into creamed butter and sugar in mixing bowl

Stir in milk once flour is mixed in.

Mix the dough until well combined, just as you would for regular cookie dough. Then, stir in the chocolate chips.

We use regular chocolate chips here. You can use mini chocolate chips if you like.

Form no bake cookie dough balls with a small cookie scoop or mini ice cream scoop. Or, just use your own clean hands! We like to make 1-inch balls.

Since it’s warm here, we placed the balls in the freezer so that they would be nice and firm before we dunked them in the chocolate. If it’s cool where you are, you might be able to skip this step or maybe just refrigerate them, instead.

We let the balls set in the fridge, and once they’re firm, they’re ready to eat!

You can also take these to the next level by making chocolate chip cookie dough truffles. Just make the dough balls like normal, but put them into the freezer for about an hour.

When the balls are very firm and frozen, dip them into melted chocolate or candy coating, and refrigerate them when finished decorating!

Variations

There are a couple ways to customize this edible chocolate chip cookie dough recipe to your liking.

My favorite variation is making cookie dough truffles! Just dip the balls into melted chocolate or candy coating and decorate how you please.

For the truffle coating, you can use dark chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips — whatever you want. Use leftover melted chocolate as drizzle. Mix a little bit of coconut oil into the chocolate to help it melt better.

Or, just eat the no bake cookie dough straight up with a spoon!

Make the cookie dough with your favorite chocolate chips, or with none at all.

Or, use mini m&m’s instead of chocolate chips or along with chocolate chips for a fun pop of color! Sprinkles or sugar crystals work as well.

How to Store

Store edible cookie dough bites in an airtight container.

Dough balls last 4 to 5 days — if you can keep your hands off for that long! For longer storage, freeze the dough bites in a freezer bag for up to 3 months.

Instructions

  • Spread flour evenly on rimmed baking sheet, and bake at 350 degrees for 5 minutes. Or heat in microwave in a microwave safe bowl until flour reaches 165 degrees. About 1 minute. Allow to cool completely.
  • In a large bowl, mix the softened butter and brown sugar
  • Add the vanilla extract, and cinnamon, and gradually add the flour until mixture is firm
  • Add the milk (this makes the mixture soft, like cookie dough, and you can add more if needed)
  • Mix in the chocolate chips, cover and refrigerate until mixture is firm
  • Form mixture into 1-inch balls, and place on wax-paper lined cookie sheet. Refrigerate or freeze until firm, if necessary

For Truffles

  • Melt 2 cups of chocolate chips, and dip refrigerated cookie dough balls into chocolate until fully coated
  • Place on cookie sheet, and refrigerate until chocolate is set
  • Drizzle with white chocolate, if desired

Notes

Before forming cookie dough balls, be sure to make heat treated flour for safety.
Store balls in an air tight container in refrigerator or freeze for longer storage.
