Sheet Pan BBQ Chicken with roasted potatoes is a quick and easy dinner recipe that takes just 30 minutes to bake and is super easy to clean up!
This easy baked BBQ chicken recipe uses just a few ingredients. Just throw in a few potatoes and your favorite vegetables for a complete one dish dinner!
I just love making sheet pan dinners. Not only are these one dish meals quick and easy to make, but clean-up is also easy. That’s a huge, huge plus in my book.
As much as I love making pulled BBQ chicken in my Instant Pot, I like to make barbecue chicken in the oven when I want something more than sandwiches.
How to Make Baked BBQ Chicken Breasts
You can use a sheet pan if you want to cook the chicken with your favorite veggies. If you want to make chicken by itself, you can use a casserole dish.
I highly recommend lining the sheet pan with foil to cut down on cleaning time. Just line a baking sheet with foil, and add some vegetable oil or olive oil to the pan.
Next, toss some cut-up potatoes in the oil, and add the chicken. Then, season both sides of the chicken and the potatoes.
Sometimes, I just use salt, pepper and garlic powder. And sometimes, I’ll add some smoked paprika, onion flakes and chili powder.
You can also use your favorite BBQ rub if you want. After you season the chicken, brush a mix of BBQ sauce and honey over the chicken.
Honey adds a little sweetness, but you can leave it out. It really depends on how sweet your BBQ sauce is.
I usually add baby carrots. You can add your favorite veggies here, but if you want a quick cooking veggie like broccoli, wait until the chicken is almost done.
Then, pop the chicken into the oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes. The chicken is done when juices run clear and the internal temperature is 165 degrees. Small, thin chicken breasts work best, but you can cut larger ones in half.
Roasted carrots are awesome, and they have a natural sweetness that just about everyone loves. But, I couldn’t help drizzling some honey over the carrots just for some extra flavor.
Just before I served the sheet pan chicken and veggies, I added some butter and cheddar cheese over the potatoes. And then, I finished it off with a dash of fresh parsley.
These steps are completely optional. But you’ll love the added flavor and color!
Timesaving tip — Wash and cut the potatoes beforehand and refrigerate them until you’re ready to cook!

Love this meal so easy. I added whole mushroom caps, mini truss tomatoes and in last ten minutes brocolini
So glad you enjoyed it, Judy. Those additions sound amazing! ๐
The chicken breasts don’t look sliced in the photos…is it okay not to slice prior to baking…will it need to cook longer?
It looks so good I am anxious to try it. Thanks!
I sliced these in half lengthwise, since they were very big, but if you have smaller cuts, you can definitely leave them uncut.
