I love making easy crockpot meals on busy weeknights, and this slow cooker recipe is incredibly easy to prepare and comes together quickly. Simple Ingredients

You only need a few ingredients to make this easy crockpot smoked sausage and potatoes recipe. Full amounts are in the printable recipe card below.

  • Smoked sausage — I usually buy kielbasa smoked sausage or smoked polish sausage from our local Polish grocery store, but any smoked or already cooked sausage will work. If you don’t want pork sausage, use turkey sausage or chicken sausage.
  • Baby potatoes – or Yukon gold potatoes or red potatoes
  • Salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder — for seasoning
  • Butter
  • Fresh green beans — optional, but makes it a one dish dinner. You can use frozen green beans, but I would avoid canned green beans as those would be overcooked
  • Olive oil — or non stick spray to coat the bottom of the crockpot

The first time I made kielbasa and potatoes in the slow cooker, I used 1 pound of each. That wasn’t enough for us, so the next time I made this easy recipe, I used 1 pound of potatoes and 2 ropes of sausage.

How to Make Slow Cooker Sausage and Potatoes

First, rinse the baby potatoes under cold water in a colander, and pat dry. Next, slice them into quarters. Slice smaller potatoes in half.

Then, slice the smoked sausage into rounds, about 1/2 inch thick. If you want to add fresh green beans, wash and trim them. You won’t need them right away if you are cooking on low heat, unless you like them very soft.

Add a little bit of olive oil or vegetable oil to the bottom of your slow cooker. Or, spray the bottom with non stick cooking spray.

Next, add the potatoes to the slow cooker and season with salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic powder. Stir to coat with the seasonings.

Add the kielbasa slices. Finally, add a little bit of butter on top.

Cooking Time

You can cook the crock pot sausage and potatoes on high heat or low heat. Cook for 3 to 4 hours on high heat and 6 to 8 hours on low heat or until the potatoes are fork tender.

If you want to add fresh green beans, and you’re cooking on low, add them about 2 hours before you’re ready to eat. Otherwise, they may be overcooked.

When done, give the sausage mixture a quick stir. Then, dig into this simple meal of juicy, perfectly seasoned kielbasa sausage and tender potatoes. So good!

Storage

Store leftover smoked sausage and potatoes in an airtight container in your refrigerator. Leftovers should keep well for 3-5 days. For longer storage, this easy crockpot recipe makes a great freezer meal. Just store in a freezer safe container, and it reheats well.

Recipe Tip

You can add green beans at the beginning of the cooking time if you are cooking on high. Add them during the last 2 or 3 hours if you are cooking on low, so they won’t overcook.
