- 1 loaf boule bread
- ½ cup butter 1 stick
- 1 garlic clove minced
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried parsley flakes
- 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
Preheat oven to 350℉
Use a serrated knife to cut 1-inch slices in a criss-cross pattern in the loaf. Be careful not to cut all the way through the bottom.
Melt the butter, minced garlic, garlic powder and parsley in a small bowl in your microwave
Line a baking sheet with enough aluminum foil to wrap around the loaf, and place the sliced loaf on top of the foil
Use a knife to spread most the garlic butter mixture in between the cuts in the bread. Reserve some for the top
Stuff the cheese into the bread, and brush remaining garlic butter on top of the bread
Bring the foil up and around the loaf so it is covered
Bake for 20 minutes covered, then open foil and bake for another 10 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and cheese is melted
Serve immediately
You can either melt butter completely or soften it so it's spreadable. I prefer softened butter, but both ways work.
Look for a dense loaf of bread that will be strong enough to hold the melted cheese without falling apart. Boule bread, sourdough bread or sturdy French bread will work.
